Not getting push notifications

If the Vroxy mobile app isn’t alerting you to new messages, work through these checks in order. The first one fixes most cases.

1. Check notifications in your phone’s settings

Section titled “1. Check notifications in your phone’s settings”

The most common cause is that the phone itself has notifications for Vroxy turned off. When that’s the case, pushes still reach the app while it’s open, but nothing appears on the lock screen or on your watch. The Notifications toggles inside the app don’t change this: they only control what Vroxy sends, not what your phone shows.

  • iPhone: Settings → Notifications → Vroxy → turn on Allow Notifications. Also check that Lock Screen and Banners are ticked and Sounds is on.
  • Android: Settings → Apps → Vroxy → Notifications, and make sure they’re allowed.

Also check whether a Focus mode (iPhone) or Do Not Disturb is active and silencing Vroxy.

When the phone has notifications denied, the app tells you: a “Notifications are turned off” banner with an Open Settings button (you can dismiss it), and a red card with the same button on Settings → Notifications. Tap Open Settings to jump straight to the right screen. This needs mobile app 1.67.25 or later on the Settings page, and 1.67.24 or later for the banner.

The Apple Watch only mirrors what your iPhone shows. If the watch is quiet, fix the phone first (step 1) and the watch follows.

3. Check Vroxy’s own notification settings

Section titled “3. Check Vroxy’s own notification settings”

Open Settings → Notifications in the app:

  • In-app banners — banners shown while you’re using the app.
  • Show message body — whether the alert includes the message text or just says you have a new message.
  • Quiet hours — during this window the server keeps pushes silent. Conversations where a visitor has asked for a person still come through.
  • Stay quiet after I reply — after you type or post in a room, Vroxy holds off notifying you about that room for a grace period. Choose Always notify me to turn the grace period off.

Muting a whole workspace, or an individual room, silences its pushes. Unmute it if you expected alerts from there.

If it’s still not working, open Settings and tap the version number 5 times to unlock Developer, then open Push diagnostics. It shows:

  • Permission
  • APNs token
  • FCM token
  • Server row id
  • The last payload the app received

If Permission says denied, fix it in your phone’s settings (step 1). Otherwise tap Re-register push token now to send your phone’s token to Vroxy again, then ask a teammate to send you a message to test.
